This is the Catedral Basilica de Salta in Salta, Argentina. I chose this cathedral because it exemplified multiple needs of art. Many churches are quite simple in appearance, because they are made for people to worship their god. However, this cathedral is more than just a place for human purpose, it also gives tangible form to the unknown, and in a beautiful way. Inside, are paintings, sculptures, and window art of Jesus, angels, crosses and significant Christian pieces. The artists did their best to make everyone who enters the church feel emotion, and really take in their surroundings. The detail is absolutely extraordinary, proving it's important to show true beauty in art, not just function. Both the inside and outside of the cathedral are breathtaking.
