Implied Space

This is a painting of a sunset going down over a vast ocean with rocks close by. In actuality, The characteristics of this picture, like the clouds and the details of the ocean waves, become minimized as the air and the water meet. In a person's mind, they assume that the ocean takes up much space, this is implied space that the artist uses to make the illusion of this sunset. It is a very useful tool that artists use often and this is one example of it.
